Job summary

TAFE NSW Education Support Officer (ESO) - Ageing and Disability is a permanent part-time role in Sydney. You will tutor and provide learning support to students in the Ageing and Disability sector, working closely with Teachers and Head Teachers to help learners engage, build confidence and progress in their studies.

You will also help maintain student records and support a range of administrative and compliance activities, while avoiding delivering training or developing learning resources.

Qualifications

• Hold appropriate subject knowledge and skills, and at minimum hold a Certificate III in Individual Support, or are enrolled in and working towards completion.
• Have a minimum of three years industry experience.
• Ability to understand learning materials and the discipline's processes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with initiative and clarity.

$96,098 salary package - includes base salary $84,666, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading (paid pro‑ra)

About the role

Join our team as an Education Support Officer (ESO) - Ageing and Disability and play a key role in supporting student success. Working closely with Teachers and Head Teachers, you will provide tutoring and learning assistance to students undertaking studies in the Ageing and Disability sector.

In this rewarding role, you will draw on your industry knowledge and experience to encourage student engagement, build learner confidence, and help students develop the skills and understanding needed to progress through their studies. You will provide guidance and encouragement through a variety of channels, including face‑to‑face, online, phone and email interactions, helping learners stay motivated and achieve their educational goals.

You will also work collaboratively with teaching staff to maintain student records and support a range of administrative and compliance activities. This is a student‑focused position that contributes to a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Please note: This role does not involve delivering training, assessing students, or developing learning resources.

You are passionate about supporting others to learn and succeed. With experience in Ageing, Disability, or Community Services, you bring current industry knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly and confidently.

You enjoy building relationships and have a natural ability to motivate and encourage people. Whether supporting students one‑on‑one or working as part of a broader team, you are patient, approachable, and committed to providing an exceptional learner experience.

To be successful in this role, you will meet the below selection criteria:

• Hold appropriate subject knowledge and skills, and at minimum hold a Certificate III in Individual Support, or are enrolled in and working towards completion.
• Have a minimum of (3) three years industry experience
• Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline.
• High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner.
• Commitment and ability to support learning in an adult environment and a demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage students.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and to provide quality customer service as part of a broader team.
• Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.
