Job summary

TAFE NSW Biripi Country – Taree Campus seeks an Education Support Officer in Health (Aboriginal Identified) to assist Nursing students by providing one-on-one and small-group tutoring. You will work with Teachers to bring tutoring plans to life across on-campus and online delivery, including basic clerical tasks.

Some local travel for placements may be required. Aboriginality is essential; a Diploma in Nursing or higher is required, and strong interpersonal and communication skills, plus comfort

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic documentation and day-to-day tasks to keep the section running smoothly.
  • Occasional local travel to support students on placement.

Total Remuneration Package

: $82,918- $91,525. Package includes base salary ($73,054 - $80,637) plus employer's superannuation and annual leave loading paid pro rata.

About the role

As an Education Support Officer in Nursing, you’ll help students build confidence as they learn new concepts and practical skills. You’ll support learners one-on-one and in small groups, offering guidance, encouragement, and simple follow-up instruction that keeps them engaged and progressing. Working closely with Teachers, you'll bring tutoring plans to life across both face-to-face and online environments.

You’ll also lend a hand with basic documentation and day-to-day tasks that keep the section running smoothly. From time to time, you may travel locally to support students while they’re on placement. This permanent part-time role is a great way to experience working with TAFE—whether you’re exploring a future in education or looking to balance this work alongside your nursing career.

Note: This role does not teach or prepare lessons or resources and does not deliver training nor undertake assessment.

About You

You enjoy helping others succeed and can explain ideas in a clear, friendly, and practical way. You thrive in an adult learning environment and feel confident motivating students from all backgrounds as they work through their Nursing studies. Building strong relationships comes naturally to you, and you take pride in contributing to a team that puts learners first.

You’re also comfortable with technology, using tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Teams or Zoom to support students both on campus and online. You communicate well, show initiative, and bring a calm, organised approach to your work—making you a valued part of the teaching team.

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Aboriginality (Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act of 1977). Candidates selected for an interview must provide Confirmation of Aboriginality documentation at or before interview.
  • Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and hold a Diploma in Nursing or above
  • Ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to be proactive and show initiative and ability to explain ideas in a clear and concise manner.
