Job summary

Pinewood Primary School in Mount Waverley, Melbourne, seeks a Teacher Aide to support an education program in an education support class. The role is 6 hours per day, 5 days a week, fixed term, under supervision, not a teacher.

The successful candidate will assist with planning student routines, support wellbeing, communicate with teachers and parents, and help with classroom tasks, including support up to four students and basic health tasks.

• Evidence of ability to perform duties per guidelines and coordinate others.
• Able to work well in a team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Technical knowledge relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines.
• Supports communication between teachers and parents.
• Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities.
• Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting.
• Supporting students to understand tasks and information.
• Addresses behaviour within classroom aligned to policy and procedures.
• Supervises and supports individuals or groups of up to 4 students.
• Assists in coordinating educational programs under supervision and guidance.
• Provides medical intervention support under specific conditions with training.
• Provides specialised communication support for AUSLAN and braille.
