Job summary

WAMA Foundation seeks an Education Officer to design, deliver, and grow education programs from early childhood through university collaborations, with a focus on outdoor learning, arts-based education, and nature-connected experiences.

You will build partnerships with schools, camps, and communities, create curriculum-aligned materials, support staff and volunteers, and help promote WAMA as a premier excursion and learning destination. The role requires creativity and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in education, outdoor learning, environmental science, arts education, or related fields.
• Confidence working with children, teens, adults, and diverse communities.
• Strong communication skills and a warm, welcoming manner.
• Creativity, initiative, and the ability to build programs from scratch.
• A passion for nature, conservation, and hands-on learning.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging education programs across early childhood, primary and secondary school excursions, VCE and senior school art/environmental programs, university field trips and partnerships, and community workshops and public programs.
• Develop new school holiday programs such as WAMA Rangers and creative nature-based activities.
• Create curriculum-aligned learning materials, teacher resources, and activity guides.
• Support the development of WAMA's planned Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and liaise with partners.
• Build strong relationships with schools, camps, outdoor education providers, and community groups.
• Promote WAMA as a regular excursion destination.
• Identify opportunities for disadvantaged youth programs, First Nations partnerships, environmental initiatives, art-in-nature collaborations, and citizen science.
