Job summary

University of New South Wales in Sydney, NSW, is seeking an External Communications Officer (EDI). The role drives engagement around equity, diversity and inclusion and crafts messaging for staff, students, media and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, you’ll translate complex topics into clear, impactful communications with data-driven insights. Hybrid working from Kensington, NSW, and a 1-year continuing contract with a strong emphasis on media relations, content creation

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification and depth of subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent level of knowledge.
• Experience assisting with developing, delivering and measuring external communications and branding programs within large and complex organisations.
• Proven ability to distill complex information into straightforward messages for diverse stakeholders.
• Liaising effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders, and developing new initiatives with creativity and enthusiasm.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills to meet deadlines.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Advanced computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications and databases (CRM).

Responsibilities

• Developing and delivering compelling, audience-focused communications across internal and external channels.
• Providing expert communications advice to stakeholders, ensuring messages align with UNSW's brand and are delivered through appropriate channels.
• Supporting media relations, content creation and campaign delivery, including media enquiries, media releases, PR activities, launches and key initiatives.
• Coordinating communications performance, leveraging insights to drive continuous improvement, and supporting the distribution of university publications.
• Supporting the broader activities of the Corporate Communications team.
