Job summary

Gladstone Ports Corporation is seeking an experienced Earthworks Supervisor to lead civil construction, earthworks, quarrying and marine infrastructure projects in the Gladstone region. Reporting to the Auxiliary Superintendent, you will oversee safety, delivery, budgets and schedules across road, drainage and seawall works with a focus on efficiency.

Ideal candidates bring proven leadership in earthworks/quarrying, strong drawing interpretation skills, and a proactive safety approach.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising civil construction, earthworks and quarrying operations.
• Strong leadership of multi‑discipline teams in civil projects.
• Knowledge of quarrying operations, earthmoving equipment and construction methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, plans and standards.
• Excellent planning, communication and organizational skills.
• Proactive safety leadership and risk management.
• Minimum 2 years' supervision experience in civil construction, earthworks, quarrying or mining.
• Competencies: RIIRI301D, RIIWHS301D, RIICOM301D; WHS qualifications and drilling/blasting training.
• Currently undertaking or completed Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations; Safe Drilling and Blasting course.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily civil construction, earthworks, quarrying and infrastructure activities.
• Lead daily pre-start meetings and implement risk controls.
• Plan labour, plant and equipment to maximise productivity.
• Monitor progress and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Maintain project, inspection, maintenance and operational records.
• Foster a safe, high‑performing team culture.
• Identify cost savings and efficiency opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineering, technical and operational stakeholders.
• Develop a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
• Identify opportunities to optimise resources and project delivery.
