Job summary

The Department for Education, South Australia is seeking a passionate Early Years Special Education Teacher to join Adelaide West Special Education Ctr. You will develop personalised, play-based learning programs responsive to each student's strengths and communication needs.

You will collaborate with families, SSOs, teachers and allied health professionals, implement One Plans and Ready to Learn Plans, and use AAC and assistive technologies to support inclusion.

Qualifications

• Experience in early years education and inclusive settings.
• Ability to develop personalised learning plans.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate inclusive, play-based learning programs aligned with curriculum requirements.
• Use intentional teaching through play to develop communication, social interaction, regulation, independence, physical development and early literacy and numeracy skills.
• Develop, implement and review personalised One Plans with measurable learning goals.
• Use visuals, symbols, AAC and assistive technologies for communication.
• Develop and follow Ready to Learn Plans, health care plans and risk-management processes.
• Create safe, accessible learning environments that encourage curiosity and connection.
• Make adjustments to support diverse needs.
• Use assessment data to monitor progress and guide teaching.
• Build relationships with students, families, staff and allied health professionals.
• Provide guidance to classroom staff for student-centred practice.
• Engage in reflective practice and whole-school improvement priorities.
