Job summary

Sydney Catholic Early Childhood Services (SCECS) in Sydney is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to plan and deliver a high-quality, inclusive curriculum across Catholic education settings. You will collaborate with the team to support children’s development and build strong partnerships with families and professionals.

This full-time permanent role requires credentials and child-safety training, with a focus on play-based learning, cultural responsiveness, and compliance with EYLF and NQF.

Qualifications

• An Early Childhood Teaching approved qualification (Bachelor of Teaching or Education).
• Teacher Accreditation - NESA.
• Current First Aid Certificate approved by ACECQA (including applying first aid, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis).
• Identify & Respond to Children at Risk of Harm Certificate.
• Valid Working with Children Check.
• GECCKO national child safety training.
• Minimum 2 years experience in childcare.
• Sound knowledge of the National Quality Framework and EYLF.
• Demonstrated curriculum development experience.
• Ability to foster a positive learning culture.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing a responsive, play-based curriculum aligned with EYLF and NQF.
• Use intentional teaching to extend learning based on interests, abilities, and culture.
• Collaborate respectfully as part of a dynamic team to support children and families.
• Support leadership tasks, mentor educators, and contribute to the QIP.
• Engage with families through ongoing communication and collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.

About the role

As the Early Childhood Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a high-quality, inclusive curriculum that reflects the interests, strengths, and needs of all children. Working collaboratively with the team, you will provide strong support for children’s developmental needs and foster positive relationships with families and professionals.

This is a Full-time permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Nominated Supervisor in Developing and implementing a responsive, play based curriculum aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Framework (NQF).
• Use intentional teaching practices to extend children’s learning based on their emerging interests, abilities, and cultural backgrounds.
• Work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a dynamic team, contributing to a positive workplace culture.
• Support the Nominated Supervisor with leadership tasks, including guiding educational practice, mentoring educators, and contributing to the service’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
• Partner with families through ongoing communication, collaboration, and respect for their role in their child’s learning journey.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.

To be considered you will have:

• An Early Childhood Teaching approved qualification (i.e. Bachelor of Teaching or Education)
• Teacher Accreditation - NESA
• A current First Aid Certificate approved by ACECQA that includes applying first aid, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis
• Identify & Respond to Children at Risk of Harm Certificate
• A valid Working with Children Check
• Completed the mandatory national child safety training via GECCKO. Register GECCKO
• A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a childcare environment
• Sound, practical working knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and documenting children’s learning
• The motivation and ability to inspire and maintain a positive learning culture within the centre
