Job summary

Oxworks in Brisbane is seeking an experienced E-Commerce Developer to own our online sales channel and lead the development of fast, secure, and reliable e-commerce experiences. This coding-first role focuses on building features, tooling, and integrations that drive revenue for our Trade customers.

You will collaborate with a small digital team to extend platforms, implement performance improvements, and ensure WCAG-compliant, responsive experiences across devices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial web development experience.
• Experience with at least one major e-commerce platform.
• Strong knowledge of PHP, Node.js or Python and SQL.
• Experience integrating with SAGE ERP or similar systems is a plus.

Job description

Do you love writing code that turns into real sales? Oxworks is looking for an E-Commerce Developer to be the hands-on technical owner of our online sales channel and help take our digital business to the next level.

This is a coding-first role. You'll build, extend and look after our e-commerce platform and the custom tools and integrations around it, so our websites are fast, secure, reliable and a growing source of revenue. You'll be joining a brand-new digital team alongside our UX/UI Designer, SEO Content Specialist, Digital Content Creator and IT Projects Officer, turning their ideas into working features that Trade customers use every day.

What You'll Do:

• Design, build, test and deploy new features and custom functionality across the Oxworks and Architectural Alumatex websites.
• Develop custom e-commerce tools such as product configurators and calculators, request-for-quote workflows, trade account portals, customer-specific pricing and bulk ordering.
• Build and maintain integrations between the e-commerce platform, SAGE ERP and third-party services covering products, stock, pricing, customers, orders, payments and freight.
• Extend the platform through custom themes, plugins, apps and platform APIs (REST/GraphQL, webhooks, scheduled jobs).
• Own code quality, source control, code reviews, testing and deployment pipelines across development, staging and production.
• Keep our sites fast and secure: Core Web Vitals, caching, patching, PCI-DSS, backups, hosting, DNS and SSL.
• Bring designs from our UX/UI Designer to life with accessible (WCAG), fully responsive experiences across all devices.
• Partner with our SEO Content Specialist on technical SEO, and set up analytics, tag management and A/B tests.
• Diagnose and fix bugs and integration failures quickly, getting to the root cause so they don't come back.
• Scope and review the work of external developers or agencies where specialist support is needed.

About You:

• You've got 3+ years' commercial web development experience and a portfolio of e-commerce builds and custom functionality.
• You have strong server-side experience in PHP, Node.js, Python or similar, plus working knowledge of SQL.
• You've developed on at least one major e-commerce platform (Shopify, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce/Magento or WooCommerce).
• You've built and consumed APIs and system-to-system integrations, and you're at home with Git and CI/CD.
• You understand web performance, security best practice (OWASP) and technical SEO.
• Experience integrating with SAGE or another ERP, or with B2B/trade e-commerce (account pricing, quotes, credit terms), is highly sought after.
• Experience with cloud hosting (AWS, Azure), headless commerce, payment gateways, GA4/GTM or automated testing is a bonus.
• You can explain technical ideas to non-technical people and manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
• You hold a current driver's licence.
