Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking a SHLV Case Worker in Far West NSW to support women aged 18+ who have separated from violent partners. You will provide safety planning, case management, and help access legal protections while promoting housing stability and autonomy.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of Domestic & Family Violence and its impact, especially on Aboriginal Women and Children.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice response to Domestic & Family Violence.
  • Ability to work with local Aboriginal communities and broader community.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution skills.
  • Good networking, organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Current NSW Driving Licence; First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
  • Pre-employment checks including police history and child/vulnerable person clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety planning and case management strategies to women and children affected by and escaping DV.
  • Assist women in maintaining separation from violent partners and addressing safety barriers.
  • Help clients maintain stable accommodation and financial independence.
  • Facilitate access to the court system for legal protection.
  • Conduct assessments to identify needs in legal, social and welfare areas.
  • Complete administrative duties for efficient service operations (statistics, reports, referrals, plans, data entry).
