Job summary

Harris Farm is seeking a Duty Manager to lead a team of 60+ Harris Farmers and drive a market-style shopping experience with strong commercial oversight. You’ll own sales, wages, margins and EBITDA, coach for growth, and uphold customer and safety standards in a fast-paced fresh-food environment.

The role emphasizes leading with Harris Farm values, developing junior leaders, and delivering exceptional service and product quality across the store.

Qualifications

• Experience running a retail store or similar fast-paced operation.
• Led teams of 60+ with warmth, clarity and accountability.
• Commercial fluency—owned a P&L and the wages under it.
• Genuine love of fresh food, especially fruit and veg.
• Strong communication skills that inspire and connect.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure during peak periods.

We are currently searching for our next Duty Manager!

As Duty Manager, you'll lead between 60 and 140 Harris Farmers to deliver a shopping experience that's more market than supermarket. Think fresh, abundant, bloody good products — and a crew that genuinely wants to come to work. You'll own the sales, the wages, the margin, the EBITDA, the culture and the customer. This is a role where you can truly make your mark!

Responsibilities

• Live and lead by the HFM values and coach your team in what they look like on the floor
• Build a learning environment and grow the next generation of Harris Farmers, 2ICs and Trainee Store Managers
• Coach, empower and develop your people with authentic care for their success and wellbeing
• Manage grievances, performance and people matters fairly, promptly and compliantly, with P&C support
• Communicate a clear vision and strategy your team can actually act on
• Turn complaints into moments that surprise and delight — not moments that escalated
• Feed buying teams with intel on product quality, volumes and competitor pricing
• Forward-plan the big moments — Christmas, Valentine's Day, local community events
• Own your store's sales, wages, margin and EBITDA — know your numbers daily, not monthly
• Be the visible Safety Champion, because your behaviour sets the standard for the whole store

About you

We're looking for someone who absolutely loves food, with previous experience leading in a fresh food retail environment. You're energetic, commercially sharp and people-focused. You'll also bring:

• Experience running a retail store or similar fast-paced operation
• A proven track record of leading teams of 60+ people with warmth, clarity and accountability
• Commercial fluency — you've owned a P&L and the wages that sit under it
• A genuine love of fresh food, especially fruit and veg
• Strong communication skills that inspire and connect
• The ability to stay calm under pressure — think Christmas week energy, every single week!
