Job summary

Harris Farm Markets in New South Wales is seeking a Duty Manager to lead between 60 and 140 Harris Farmers and deliver a shopping experience that's more market than supermarket. You'll own the sales, the wages, the margin and EBITDA, and set the tone for store culture.

This is a role where you can truly make your mark! You are energetic, commercially sharp and people-focused, with experience in fresh food retail.

Qualifications

• Experience running a retail store or similar fast-paced operation.
• Proven track record leading teams of 60+ people with warmth and accountability.
• Fluency in managing P&L and wage costs within a store.
• Genuine love of fresh food, especially fruit and vegetables.
• Strong communication skills that inspire and connect.

• Provide buying teams with intel on product quality, volumes and pricing.
• Forward-plan major moments—Christmas, Valentine’s Day, local events.
• Own store sales, wages, margin and EBITDA; monitor numbers daily.
• Be the visible Safety Champion and set the standard for the store.

• Build a learning environment and grow the next generation of Harris Farmers, 2ICs and Trainee Store Managers
• Coach, empower and develop your people with authentic care for their success and wellbeing
• Manage grievances, performance and people matters fairly, promptly and compliantly, with P&C support
• Communicate a clear vision and strategy your team can actually act on
• Turn complaints into moments that surprise and delight — not moments that escalated
• Feed buying teams with intel on product quality, volumes and competitor pricing
• Forward-plan the big moments — Christmas, Valentine's Day, local community events
• Own your store's sales, wages, margin and EBITDA — know your numbers daily, not monthly
• Be the visible Safety Champion, because your behaviour sets the standard for the whole store

About you

We're looking for someone who absolutely loves food, with previous experience leading in a fresh food retail environment. You're energetic, commercially sharp and people-focused. You'll also bring:

• Experience running a retail store or similar fast-paced operation
• A proven track record of leading teams of 60+ people with warmth, clarity and accountability
• Commercial fluency — you've owned a P&L and the wages that sit under it
• A genuine love of fresh food, especially fruit and veg
• Strong communication skills that inspire and connect
• The ability to stay calm under pressure — think Christmas week energy, every single week!
