Job summary

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community Transport is seeking a Driver Team Leader to supervise and support drivers and volunteers, ensuring safe, reliable and customer-focused service delivery. This hands-on role links scheduling, client services and drivers to execute journeys efficiently and maintain vehicle utilization and driver compliance.

The person will lead inductions, training and toolbox talks, monitor operations, and maintain records for licensing, training and medical clearances while driving

Qualifications

• Current NSW LR Licence.
• Transport for NSW Bus Driver Authority.
• First Aid Certificate with CPR.
• Point to Point Transport registration.
• Medical and safety checks kept current.

Responsibilities

The Driver Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, supervision and support of drivers and transport services to ensure safe, reliable and customer-focused service delivery. The position acts as the operational link between scheduling, client services and drivers, ensuring journey delivery is completed efficiently, vehicles are appropriately utilised, driver records remain current, and service standards are maintained. The Driver Team Leader is a hands‑on operational role focused on daily execution, driver performance, driver compliance, communication and customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Coordinate daily deployment of drivers and volunteers (where appropriate)

Manage driver attendance, leave coverage and service continuity, including notification to work and payroll and timesheet approvals

Provide day‑to‑day supervision, training, mentoring and support

Conduct driver inductions and workplace orientation

Coordinate toolbox safety talks and team meetings

Monitor daily transport operations and coordinate responses to service disruptions

Maintain license verification systems and Driver Authority renewals

Track mandatory training requirements and maintain medical assessments and clearance records

Conduct workplace and vehicle safety inspections and assist with incident investigations

Contribute to the achievement of strategic and operational objectives

About you

Current NSW LR License

Transport for NSW Bus Driver Authority

Current First Aid Certificate with CPR

Point to Point Transport registration

Satisfactory driving record, free of disqualifying offences (reviewed every 3 years)

Leadership experience in transport and/or human services sector

Comfortable with various standard and service specific technology suites, like Microsoft 365, Employment Hero, TRIPS transport software, Xero

National Criminal History check clearance

National Working with Children Check clearance

National Disability Worker Screening clearance
