Responsibilities

• Take a job from site measure through to DA and Construction Certificate drawing set.
• Draw construction details a carpenter can build from without handholding.
• Produce joinery and shop drawings for fit out work.
• Prepare as built and existing condition sets for remedial and strata jobs.
• Keep the drawing register: revisions, clouds and reissues.
• Mark up and reissue drawings as the job changes on site.
• Respond to drawing queries from engineer, certifier and council.
• Take off quantities from your own sets to support estimating.

Job description

Drawn before it is built is the line we work to, so drafting is not a back office function here. You would take jobs from site measure through DA and construction documentation, and draw the details the carpenters on our own sites build from.

Residential, remedial, strata and heritage. On a small team, the sheet you issue on Tuesday is the thing being set out on Thursday.

What you would do

• Take a job from site measure through to a full DA and Construction Certificate drawing set
• Draw construction details a carpenter can build from without ringing you
• Produce joinery and shop drawings for fit out work
• Prepare as built and existing condition sets for remedial and strata jobs
• Keep the drawing register straight: revisions, clouds and reissues
• Mark up and reissue as the job changes on site
• Answer drawing queries from the engineer, the certifier and council
• Take off quantities from your own sets to support estimating

What you need

• Drafting experience in residential, remedial or small commercial building
• AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD or similar, and tell us which one you actually run
• You can read a job and draw the detail without being handed every dimension
• Accurate: your dimensions add up and your revisions are clean
• Current driver licence, because you will be out measuring

Nice to have

• Council DA experience in the eastern suburbs or inner west
• A trade background
• Heritage or remedial documentation
• White card
• 3D modelling, Revit or SketchUp
• Reading and coordinating structural documentation

We will look at a strong junior with a good folio.
