Job summary

Dooler Pty Ltd in Melbourne seeks an experienced Architectural Draftsperson to join the CBD studio. You will translate concepts into detailed drawings for residential and boutique commercial interiors, coordinating with designers, clients, consultants and builders to ensure drawings are accurate and compliant with NCC.

Proficiency in Revit and ArchiCAD with AutoCAD is essential, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects from concept through installation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as Architectural Draftsperson or similar drafting role.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit and ArchiCAD, with working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Experience with SketchUp or 3D visualization software will be highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of residential and interior construction methods and detailing.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication, to collaborate with designers, clients and builders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed drawings and plans (floor plans, elevations, sections, details) for residential and boutique commercial interiors using Revit, ArchiCAD and/or AutoCAD.
• Translate sketches and client briefs into accurate working drawings meeting Australian codes and standards.
• Create interior drawings including joinery, reflected ceiling plans, lighting and electrical layouts, finishes, FF&E layouts.
• Prepare specifications and material schedules to accompany drawing packages.
• Produce manufacture-ready drawings for custom joinery and check against design documentation.
• Ensure drawings comply with NCC and Victorian building regulations before issue.

Dooler Pty Ltd is the Australian operating arm of an established Chinese design group, Chengdu 5am Technology ooler Pty Ltd is the Australian operating arm of an established Chinese design group, Chengdu 5am Technology Co., Ltd. Dooler itself is a young Australian entity, registered on 20 February 2025 and operating from a serviced commercial office at Unit 805, 220 Collins Street in the Melbourne CBD under a two-year licence agreement, but the design, operating and brand-building capability behind it has been developed over several years inside our parent group, which is widely recognised in the Chinese high-end residential design market and on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book / RED), the dominant lifestyle and design social-media platform in China.

We reach our clients through our website www.dooler.com.au and the group's Chinese-language design content on social media, and a substantial proportion of our clients are Chinese-speaking. We are currently seeking an experienced Architectural Draftsperson to join our Melbourne team.

About the role:

This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Melbourne CBD studio, suited to an experienced and detail-focused drafting professional. You will complete the design concepts developed by our senior designers and the group's design team by preparing detailed drawings, plans and specifications for residential and boutique commercial interior, renovation and fit-out projects. The role involves working closely with our designers, project team, clients, consultants, builders, contractors and joinery manufacturers to ensure drawings are accurate, buildable and compliant with the National Construction Code, Australian Standards and Victorian building regulations, from concept design through to installation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete the design concepts developed by the studio's senior designers and the group's design team by preparing detailed drawings and plans, including floor plans, elevations, sections and details, for residential and boutique commercial interior, renovation and fit-out projects, using Revit, ArchiCAD and/or AutoCAD.
• Translate sketches, concept designs and client briefs, including concepts developed with the group's design team in China, into accurate working drawings that meet Australian building codes, standards and construction practice.
• Prepare interior working drawings, including joinery drawings, reflected ceiling plans, lighting and electrical layouts, wall and floor finishes plans, and furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) layouts.
• Prepare specifications and schedules of materials, finishes, fixtures and fittings to accompany each drawing package.
• Prepare detailed, manufacture-ready drawings for custom joinery produced by local and overseas manufacturers, and check manufacturers' shop drawings against the design documentation.
• Interpret and apply the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian Standards and Victorian building regulations, and check drawings for compliance before they are issued.
• Prepare drawings required for building permit applications for renovation and fit-out works, and respond to requests for information from building surveyors.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, building surveyors, services consultants and other consultants, and incorporate their requirements into the drawings.
• Conduct site measures and prepare existing-conditions drawings as the basis for design and documentation.
• Calculate areas, quantities and material requirements, and assist with cost and time estimates for projects.
• Liaise with builders, contractors and installers to clarify drawings, and attend sites to check that works and installations are carried out in accordance with the drawings and specifications.
• Review and revise drawings in response to client feedback, design changes and site conditions, and maintain drawing registers and revision records.
• Assist the project team to plan documentation programs so that drawings are issued in line with project, procurement and installation schedules.

Qualification Requirements:

• At least1years of experience as an Architectural Draftsperson or in a similar drafting role within an architectural, building design or interior design practice.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit and/or ArchiCAD, with working knowledge of AutoCAD. Experience with SketchUp or 3D visualisation software will be highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of residential and interior construction methods, materials and detailing, including custom joinery.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at the same time.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with designers, clients, consultants and builders.
