Job summary

A.I.R Recruitment is seeking a Senior Draftsperson on the Gold Coast for a leading fire protection design team. You will develop designs and modelling for wet and dry fire protection systems in commercial, retail and industrial buildings.

You will produce drawings, perform hydraulic calculations, site measures, and liaise with certifiers, engineers, and clients to ensure compliant outcomes. The role offers growth within a national services provider.

Qualifications

• 3+ years relevant experience in building services or fire protection.
• Experience designing fire sprinkler systems, hydrants, water tanks and associated hydraulics.
• Utilisation of Revit/AutoCAD on local projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of Australian codes and standards is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs and modelling for wet/dry fire service systems per codes and NCC where applicable.
• Produce working drawings, cutting sheets, and material take-offs.
• Carry out hydraulic calculations and site measures as needed.
• Review tender docs for compliance and assist with project completion documentation.
• Collaborate with certifiers, fire engineers and clients.

Due to growth, we are seeking a Senior Draftsperson to join their team on the Gold Coast. As a key member of the fire protection design and drafting team, you will be responsible for providing effective project and technical solutions, designs and modelling for a range of building / fire protection projects including commercial, retail and industrial buildings. You will also be involved in building strong stakeholder relationships and contributing to the internal growth of the team.

The role:

• Develop designs and modelling for various wet and dry fie service systems in accordance with the relevant codes Australian standards, Brigade requirements, Fire engineering reports and NCC (if Applicable)
• Produce working drawings and plans, provide cutting sheets and material take offs
• Carry out site measures if required
• Carry out hydraulic calculations
• Process purchase orders to our suppliers for materials
• Attend design meetings as required
• Consult with the building certifier and fire Engineer and the client
• Review tender documentation for non compliance
• Process purchase orders to our suppliers for materials
• Assist in providing the project completion documentation
• Assist the with any designs / structural engineering enquiries as required
• Carry out compliance audits and assessments

What we're looking for:

• Experience working in building, construction, architectual, buildings Services / fire sprinklers, hydraulic - Fire systems design favorable but not essential
• Qualifications in engineering, drafting or building services discipline favourable
• 3 + years relevant experience
• Experience designing fire sprinkler systems, hydrants / water tanks / piping and some Hydraulics projects.
• Past experience using Revit / AutoCAD on local projects preferred.
• Experience with fabrication sheets useful
• Knowledge and experience using Australian codes and standards
• Good all round communication skills
• Experience preparing and producing fabrication sheets is useful but not essential.
• Some prior knowledge of the Australian Standards and local Authority requirements.
• Strong adherence to and awareness of Australian safety standards.
• Good communication skills written and verbal.
• Valid drivers licence
