Project Building Supplies (PBS) is seeking an experienced Distribution Manager to lead the day-to-day coordination of our transport and dispatch operations. Reporting to the Branch General Manager, you will ensure customer orders are planned, dispatched and delivered safely and efficiently. You will lead drivers and offsiders, oversee fleet readiness, and work closely with our Warehouse and Customer Service teams to meet delivery commitments. Your role will also include coordinating supplier orders and inbound deliveries, helping align the flow of building materials with customer requirements. This opportunity will suit a practical, organised leader who sets clear expectations, communicates effectively and stays focused when operational priorities change.

Key responsibilities

Plan delivery runs, allocate drivers and vehicles, coordinate dispatch priorities and ensure teams understand delivery requirements before departure.

Supervise, induct and develop drivers and offsiders, manage performance and reinforce safe working practices and professional customer service.

Oversee vehicle checks, defect reporting, servicing and repairs, and monitor vehicle registrations, compliance requirements and driver licence currency.

Maintain clear standards for safe driving, load restraint, unloading and yard movements, with timely reporting and escalation of hazards and incidents.

Ensure proof of delivery is complete and accurate, and that failed or partial deliveries and returns are promptly recorded and communicated.

Raise and process purchase orders under approved arrangements, monitor supplier lead times and backorders, and coordinate inbound deliveries with operational needs.

Work with Warehouse, Customer Service and external carriers to resolve delivery issues and keep relevant teams informed.

Identify practical ways to improve dispatch efficiency, fleet utilisation, communication and delivery reliability.

About you

At least three years' experience in transport, logistics or distribution, including supervisory responsibilities.

Experience planning delivery schedules, sequencing routes and coordinating dispatch in a busy operational environment.

Proven ability to lead drivers or transport personnel, set clear expectations and address performance issues.

Experience coordinating supplier orders, purchase orders or inbound supply.

A strong understanding of transport safety, load restraint, vehicle inspections and defect reporting.

Confidence using inventory, dispatch or ERP systems, with accurate record keeping and attention to detail.

Clear communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities.

A valid driver's licence.

Experience in building materials, construction or industrial distribution will be well regarded.

A qualification in logistics, transport or supply chain, an HR licence or above, and experience improving delivery operations would also be advantageous.
