Job summary

NSW Reconstruction Authority is recruiting for a key role to support public infrastructure reconstruction across NSW. You will act as a technical liaison between councils, state agencies and our Authority, guiding disaster recovery funding processes and providing on-site support during events.

You will help councils identify and prepare funding claims under the DRFA program, attend Emergency Operations Centres, and address complex challenges with internal teams. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in infrastructure delivery or disaster recovery.
• Experience in managing infrastructure projects, including planning, prioritisation, and funding.
• Experience in working with local governments to support disaster recovery, preparedness, or routine infrastructure delivery.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and address complex technical issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice for disaster recovery projects by guiding councils through infrastructure funding processes and delivering on-site technical support during disaster events.
• Provide technical guidance to councils for identifying and preparing infrastructure funding claims under Category B of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement (DRFA) program.
• Act as the main infrastructure contact for councils, including attendance at Emergency Operations Centres and in local/regional emergency management committees.
• Resolve technical challenges in disaster recovery projects by liaising with councils, agencies, and internal teams.
• Monitor council capacity for disaster-related construction projects and provide feedback for capacity-building initiatives.
• Contribute to infrastructure recovery reporting and program tracking to ensure alignment with broader reconstruction objectives.
