Job summary

Hireup is seeking experienced and resilient Support Workers in the Torquay, Vic area to provide dedicated care for a non-verbal client with complex behavioural needs.

The role requires navigating challenging behaviours, using alternative communication strategies, and spending time building rapport and trust with the client. Shifts start Thursdays and Fridays, with potential to expand hours as rapport grows.

Qualifications

• Experience providing care for individuals with complex behavioural needs.
• Ability to implement non-verbal and alternative communication strategies.
• Must obtain NDIS Worker Screening Check, NDIS Worker Orientation Module, Full First Aid, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence & access to own car, and Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.

Responsibilities

• Provide full personal care for the client.
• Manage medications, epilepsy, and mealtime needs.
• Support social access to community activities, e.g., pool and gym visits.
• Build rapport and trust with the client to support independent living.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking experienced and resilient Support Workers in the Torquay, Vic area, to provide dedicated care for a non-verbal client with complex behavioural needs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of navigating challenging behaviours, utilising alternative communication strategies, have knowledge of nursery rhymes & kids' TV shows and be willing to spend time building a rapport and trusting professional relationship with the client.

Experience with the following supports:

• Behaviour support
• Full personal care
• Medication, epilepsy & mealtime management
• Social support/community access, assisting the client with going to the pool and bounce gymnasium

Must have the following documents:

• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module
• Full First Aid
• Unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence & access to own car
• Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check

The shifts will begin weekly on Thursdays & Fridays for 2 hours, between 3pm and 5pm. These shifts will increase to more days and longer hours once rapport has been built with the client.
