Job summary

Life Without Barriers is seeking a Disability Support Worker in Alice Springs for multiple permanent part-time roles across Lifestyles & Supported Living. You will provide person-centred support, assist with personal care and complex health needs, and help clients engage in activities and culture within a 24/7 roster that includes nights, weekends and public holidays.

Ideal candidates will have a driver licence, First Aid and CPR, and a respectful understanding of Aboriginal culture.

Qualifications

• Experience providing personal care.
• Experience supporting people with complex health needs.
• Experience supporting people with behaviours of concern and following behaviour support plans.
• Unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
• Current Provide First Aid Certificate and CPR.
• Sound understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues affecting Aboriginal people.

• Support people to participate in enjoyable activities, community life and cultural activities.

About the role

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disability in Alice Springs.

We have multiple permanent part-time opportunities across our Lifestyles & Supported Living programs, supporting people with disability to live fulfilling, connected lives in their community.

As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll work as part of a dedicated team to provide person-centred support and help create a safe, inclusive and culturally respectful environment. You’ll support people with a range of complex needs, including personal care, behaviour support, complex health needs, manual handling and hoisting.

Our clients enjoy a range of activities including arts and crafts, gardening, dancing, music, community activities and connecting with culture. You’ll play an important role in supporting them to pursue their interests, achieve their goals and participate in their community.

These roles will require successful applicants to be available and willing to work within a 24/7 roster that includes regular shift work, including night shifts, weekends and public holidays.

• A sound understanding of, and sensitivity to, Aboriginal culture and the issues affecting Aboriginal people.
