Job summary

Afford is hiring a Disability Support Worker to help people live more independently across SIL and community programs. You will provide person-centred support based on each client's goals and preferences, in a casual capacity. The role requires compassion, reliability and a commitment to human rights in line with NDIS standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support or above.
• Passion for supporting people with disability and safeguarding human rights.
• Previous disability support experience, particularly in SIL or community settings.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check / Yellow Card and Working With Children Check / Blue Card.
• First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
• Current Driver’s Licence.
• Reliable vehicle and willingness to transport clients (mileage reimbursed).
• Proof of Australian work rights (Passport, Birth Certificate or Citizenship Certificate).
• Willingness to complete National & International Police Check (paid by Afford).
• Willingness to complete a Pre-Employment Medical/Functional Assessment (paid by Afford).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, safe and individualised support to clients across SIL and community programs.
• Provide personalised support in line with individual support plans and develop independence.
• Support clients to access community activities, appointments and social programs.
• Assist clients to achieve personal goals and build confidence.
• Support personal care where required and assist clients with varying needs.
• Follow Behaviour Support Plans and NDIS Practice Standards.
• Promote choice, dignity, independence and human rights.
• Maintain accurate and timely client documentation.
• Collaborate with clients, families, colleagues and other professionals.

What you will do

• Supporting clients to access community activities, appointments and social programs
• Assisting clients to achieve their personal goals and build confidence
• Providing support with personal care where required
• Supporting clients with varying support needs, including high-intensity needs where required
• Following Behaviour Support Plans and NDIS Practice Standards
• Promoting choice, dignity, independence and human rights in every interaction
• Maintaining accurate and timely client documentation
• Working collaboratively with clients, families, colleagues and other professionals

About you

We’re looking for people who are compassionate, reliable and committed to providing high-quality disability support.

You will ideally have:

• Certificate III in Individual Support or above
• A passion for supporting people with disability and safeguarding human rights
• Previous disability support experience, particularly in SIL or community settings
• Current or willingness to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check/ Yellow Card and Working With Children Check/ Blue Card
• Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
• Current Driver’s Licence
• A reliable vehicle and willingness to transport clients when required (mileage reimbursed)
• Passport, Birth Certificate or Citizenship Certificate to validate Australian work rights
• Willingness to complete a National & International Police Check (paid by Afford)
• Ability to complete a Pre-Employment Medical/Functional Assessment (paid by Afford)
