Job summary

Sirv Group in Lake Haven, NSW, is seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to support individuals with complex mental health needs, psychosocial disabilities and behaviours of concern in a SIL environment. This hands-on role requires calmness under pressure, resilience, and a commitment to person-centred care.

You will work across a 24/7 roster, including sleepovers, mornings, and weekends, assisting with daily living, documentation, and behaviour support.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Disability Support Worker, preferably with behaviours of concern.
• Experience supporting people with mental health, psychosocial disability and complex behaviours.
• Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed practice.
• Current NDIA Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain) and First Aid/CPR and WWCC.
• Ability to work across a 24/7 SIL roster, including sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support in line with individual support plans and Behaviour Support Plans.
• Support individuals experiencing mental health challenges, psychosocial disability and behaviours of concern.
• Apply PBS and trauma-informed approaches in day-to-day support.
• Recognise escalation signs and respond with de-escalation strategies.
• Maintain a calm, professional approach during heightened behaviour or distress.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care and meal prep.
• Support independence, routines, and community access.
• Document behaviours, incidents, triggers, strategies and outcomes accurately.
• Complete progress notes and incident reports within required timeframes.
• Collaborate with families, coordinators, allied health professionals and management.
