Job summary

Sirv is seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to assist individuals with complex needs in a SIL environment. The role covers 24/7 shifts including sleepovers, with a focus on empowering people to live safe, meaningful, and independent lives.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years in the field, knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support, and a current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Disability Support Worker, with at least 12 months in roles involving challenging behaviours.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain.
• Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma‑informed care.
• Ability to remain calm, professional and responsive in high‑pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide person‑centred support in line with care and behaviour support plans.
• Safely support clients who display behaviours of concern using PBS strategies.
• Assist with daily living activities (personal care, meals, transport, community access).
• Implement de‑escalation techniques and respond to challenging situations.
• Accurately report incidents and strategies that worked or didn’t.
• Maintain documentation and incident reporting and data tracking as requested.
• Collaborate with families, allied health professionals, and internal teams.
• Promote dignity, choice, independence and emotional wellbeing.
• Demonstrate experience with challenging behaviours and PBS.
