Job summary

Disability Matters seeks dedicated Support Workers to deliver in-home and community services, including supported independent living and short-term accommodation, across Mareeba and the Atherton Tablelands. Shifts vary from 2 to 10 hours and may include overnight stays; a fleet is provided by the organisation, though some roles may require driving your own vehicle.

You will support clients in daily living activities, maintain confidentiality, and work within relevant legislation and organisation

Qualifications

• Must hold current first aid certificate including CPR.
• Working with Children Blue Card – mandatory/essential.
• Manual drivers licence – mandatory for client visits.
• Cert III in Individual Support (Disability) – preferred.
• Previous disability support experience – preferred.
• Commit to WHS and confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective support services to enhance lives of people with disabilities.
• Familiar with Federal/State legislation and national quality standards.
• Assist clients in identifying and developing new skills and abilities.
• Follow Disability Matters policies and procedures.
• Work in a team and support colleagues.
• Communicate with Client Services regarding service provision.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care, meals, mobility, and household tasks.
• Interact respectfully and encourage personal choice; engage with families and advocates.
• Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging situations.
