Job summary

Endeavour Foundation in Mackay is seeking a dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our SIL homes. You will help people with disabilities live as independently as possible, supporting daily living tasks and personal care across a permanent roster with day, evening, and sleepover shifts.

Ideal candidates are calm, compassionate, and professional, with a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) preferred, and the ability to engage in community activities, meal planning, and budgeting

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is advantageous.
• Availability to work a permanent roster line including multiple sleepovers and a variety of shifts.
• Good computer skills and experience using Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Willingness to obtain Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid, CPR, National Criminal History Check, and a full Drivers License with insurance.

Responsibilities

• Help people achieve NDIS goals by developing daily skills such as housekeeping, personal care, social skills and budgeting.
• Assist with personal care where required to meet individual needs.
• Support meal planning, cooking, light cleaning and community outings.
• Provide support during daily activities and appointments.
• Help clients maintain connections to family, friends and services.

Make an impact at Endeavour Foundation!

Working within our SIL (Supported Independent Living) home in Mackay, you will provide support, assisting people with disabilities to live as independently as possible, whether they have complex needs or just need some additional support at home. No two days will be the same - you may hear that phrase a lot but here at Endeavour Foundation, you will see it in action!

We have permanent roster lines available across our SIL homes in Mackay, offering a mix of days, afternoons and sleepover supports. These roster lines are part of a permanent schedule with opportunities to pick up additional shifts where available. To be considered for this role, you will be required to have open availability.

Other Key Duties Will Include

• Helping people to achieve their NDIS goals by developing important daily skills such as housekeeping, personal care, social skills and budgeting.
• Assisting with aspects of personal care where required to meet the individual needs of the people we support.
• Supporting with meal planning, cooking, light cleaning and facilitating community connection by socialising and going on outings.
• Providing support during daily activities such as going for a walk, going to the movies or accompanying to an appointment.
• Helping the people we support to maintain a connection to their family, friends, and services.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is a calm, compassionate, and professional Disability Support Worker with experience supporting individuals with complex support needs and behaviours of concern. You will be confident providing personal care and supporting daily living tasks while creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. The ability to remain calm under pressure, respond appropriately to challenging situations, and build trusting relationships is essential for success in this role.

We Also Require

• A Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is advantageous.
• Availability to work a permanent roster line that may include multiple sleepovers and a variety of shifts across days, evenings, early mornings, weekends, and active overnight supports.
• Good computer skills and experience using Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card), NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card), First Aid, CPR, National Criminal History Check (Fit2Work), and an open Drivers License with comprehensive insurance on your vehicle.
