Job summary

IFYS Limited is seeking a Disability Support Worker to provide daily support in Supported Independent Living arrangements across Rockhampton. A strengths-based approach will help participants gain independence, life skills, and personal goals.

Open to experienced workers or those new to the sector, with learning and growth in the role. Role offers casual employment with potential to transition into part-time, immediate start pending licensing, Maybo training for safe behaviour, and competitive

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting people with disability, either professionally or via lived experience.
  • Interest in entering the field with relevant study or progress.
  • Desirable: Cert IV in Mental Health or Mental Health First Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care and household cleanliness.
  • Plan and accompany activities or appointments.
  • Support development of independent living skills.
  • Provide hands-on training for life skills (cooking, budgeting, etc.).
  • Follow Positive Behaviour Support Plans for behaviours.
  • Complete daily notes and incident reports.

Job Description

The opportunity


As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll provide daily support to individuals in Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements. You’ll use a strengths-based approach to help participants build independence, develop life skills, and achieve personal goals.


This opportunity is open to experienced support workers and those new to the sector who are motivated to make a meaningful contribution and committed to learning and growing in the role.

  • Competitive hourly rates casual base$46.70 (inclusive of 25% loading), Afternoon shift $51.37, Night shift $52.30, Saturday shift $65.38, Sunday shift $84.06

  • Sleepover Allowance of $62.87for sleepover shifts

  • Mentorship and guidance from skilled leaders with up to 20 years of experience in the field

  • Comprehensive onboarding, including induction and a minimum of two buddy shifts

  • Client matching to ensure alignment with your skills and experience

  • Paid ongoing training to support your professional development

  • Work located throughout Rockhampton


A day in the role of a Disability Support Worker



  • Work with individuals to maintain personal care and cleanliness of the house

  • Plan and attend activities or appointments

  • Assist with skill development for independent living, recreation, learning, and community access

  • Use daily routines to provide hands on training of life skills such as cooking, personal care and budgeting

  • Support and manage individuals behaviours utilising Positive Behaviour Support Plans

  • Complete daily case notes, admin tasks and incident reports


Skills and requirements



  • Experience supporting people with disability, either professionally or through lived experience

  • OR a genuine interest in entering the field of work with relevant study completed or in progress

  • Cert IV in Mental Health or Mental Health First Aid (desirable,not essential)

  • Effective interpersonalcommunication skills

  • Computer proficiency for documentation

  • Flexible availability to work a rotating roster (may include day, afternoon and active night, sleepovers and weekend shifts)

  • Physicalcapabilitytoperformmanual handling tasks


Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful



  • Paid Workers Blue Card (Working with Children Check)

  • NDIS Workers Screening Check (Yellow Card)

  • Child Safety Personal History Check (LCS2)

  • National Crime Check (IFYS will complete a new check through our systems)

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Current QLD Driver Licence and willingness to use your own roadworthy, comprehensively insured vehicle (if required)


Other requirements
