Job summary

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust, listen actively, and collaborate with individuals, families, and care teams.
• Capacity for empathy, patience, and emotional resilience when supporting people with complex needs and challenging situations.
• Basic documentation and organizational skills to follow care plans, record notes, and manage time and tasks reliably.
• Understanding of disability rights, dignity, and inclusion, with a commitment to non-discriminatory, trauma-informed practice.
• Relevant qualification or progress toward a qualification in disability support, community services, aged care, or a related field (highly regarded).
• Experience in disability support, lived experience with disability, or working with people with diverse needs (desirable).
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, valid driver’s license, and required clearances/checks (e.g., NDIS Worker Screening or equivalent).

Role Description The Disability Support Worker role is a casual, on-site position based in Dapto, NSW. In this role, the worker will support people with disabilities in their daily living activities, including personal care, medication administration, meal preparation, and household tasks, while promoting independence and choice. The worker will accompany individuals to appointments, community activities, and social outings, helping them stay engaged and connected. Duties also include accurately documenting support provided, following individual care plans, and communicating effectively with family members and other professionals. The role requires a respectful, person-centered approach that upholds each individual’s dignity, privacy, and cultural needs.
