Job summary

Mercy Connect is seeking a dedicated Disability Support Worker to help participants build independence, wellbeing and meaningful community participation.

You will provide person-centred support with daily living activities, assist with personal care and medication where required, and help participants achieve their goals.

Strong communication, adaptability and teamwork are essential; a current First Aid/CPR, NDIS Worker Screening Check and a valid driver licence are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with disability, mental health challenges or complex support needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
• Proactive and flexible approach to supporting participants in various environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to stay calm in changing situations.

About The Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will work alongside participants to support their independence, wellbeing and quality of life. No two days are the same. You will assist people to achieve their goals, develop life skills, participate in their communities and enjoy meaningful experiences that are important to them.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing person-centred support with daily living activities.
• Supporting participants to access and engage with their local community.
• Assisting with personal care and medication support where required.
• Supporting participants to achieve their goals and develop independence.
• Implementing behaviour support and mealtime management plans.
• Maintaining accurate documentation and progress notes.
• Supporting participants to build relationships and social connections.
• Transporting participants to appointments, activities and community outings.

• NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• Working with Children Check (NSW and Vic preferred).
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Current Driver Licence and reliable vehicle.
• Evidence of the right to work in Australia.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willingness to complete)
