Job summary

Lifestyle Solutions is hiring a Disability Support Worker in Coffs Harbour, NSW. You will support a customer to gain independence at home and in the community, mentoring them in personal interests and daily living skills. The role involves personal care, medication management, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Be willing to work a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, awake shifts, sleepovers and weekends.
• Current driver’s license (mandatory)
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
• Current First Aid Certificate HLTAID003
• Competence in personal care when required
• Knowledge of epilepsy management is essential
• Understanding of mental health conditions and crisis management
• Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping

Responsibilities

• Mentoring and skill development—guide customers to explore personal interests.
• Coaching independent living skills such as cooking, domestic and social activities.
• Administering medication and following individual support plans.
• Completing clear handover notes and incident reports.
• Providing personal care including toileting, showering, feeding and dressing as needed.

Lifestyle Solutions provide innovative and flexible person-centered support for people living with a disability. Support Worker to assist a customer to become more independent, in their own home and in the community.

As a Support Worker your responsibilities will include:

• Mentoring and skill development – guiding customers to explore and develop their personal interests/hobbies

• Coaching independent living skills such as cooking, domestic and social skills

• Administering medication and adherence to individual support plans

• Completing clear, concise and factual handover notes and incident reports

• Providing personal care such as toileting, showering, feeding and dressing when required

• Helping customers engage with their local communities and culture through access to Community Participation Programs and recreational activities

• Personal care is a must, and must be comfortable and knowledgeable in doing so.

• Epilepsy management knowledge is essential.

• Community Access will also be a requirement at certain times.

• Strong understanding of mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, mood disorders).

• Understanding of mental health crisis management.

• Basic computer skills (data entry, record keeping, scanning, printing).

• Versatile communication skills including the ability to interact with both verbal and non-verbal customers

• Current driver’s license (mandatory requirement)

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or be willing to obtain)

• Current First Aid Certificate, HLTAID003

• Formal qualifications in Disability, Community Services, or similar, would be advantageous
