Job summary

We Care Support Services in Victoria Point, QLD, is seeking compassionate Disability Support Workers to provide person-centred, high-quality care to participants with diverse needs.

You will work with Team Leaders and Clinical Care staff to support daily living, community access, and health and wellbeing, with training and development opportunities and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or related.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Current Australian Driver Licence.
• Evidence of the right to work in Australia.
• Ability to complete required training and competency assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred, respectful and high-quality support.
• Support personal care, daily living and independence.
• Assist participants to access the community and participate in meaningful activities.
• Follow individual care plans and support strategies.
• Complete clear and accurate progress notes and documentation.
• Promote participant choice, dignity, rights and independence.
• Maintain safety and assist with mobility, transfers and manual handling.
• Support positive behaviour management and documentation.

About the role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provideperson-centred, respectful and high-quality support that enables participants to live as independently and meaningfully as possible.

You will work alongside experiencedTeam Leaders, Clinical Care and leadership staff, with support available to help you confidently deliver safe and consistent care.

Your day may include:

Supporting personal care, daily living and independence.

Supporting participants to access the community and participate in meaningful activities.

Following individual care plans, routines and support strategies.

Providing health and wellbeing support within your training and competency.

Supporting medication administration where trained and authorised.

Assisting with mobility, transfers and manual handling.

Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining consistent approaches.

Completing clear and accurate progress notes and documentation.

Communicating effectively with Team Leaders and colleagues.

Promoting participant choice, dignity, rights and independence.

Contributing to a safe, respectful and positive team environment.

Complex care experience – an opportunity to build your skills

Our participants have diverse and complex support needs.Experience in complex care is highly desirable, but we are also interested in capable support workers who are motivated to learn and develop.

Experience with any of the following will be highly regarded:

PEG feeding and enteral nutrition.

Epilepsy and seizure management.

Dysphagia and mealtime management.

BiPAP and non-invasive ventilation.

Manual handling, transfers and hoisting.

Medication support.

Infection prevention and control.

High-intensity daily personal activities.

Positive behaviour support and following Behaviour Support Plans.

You don't need experience in every area. What matters most is your attitude, reliability, willingness to learn and commitment to providing safe, person-centred support.

You will need:

Previous experience working in disability support.

A Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a related qualification.

Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or willingness to obtain one.

Evidence of the right to work in Australia.

Ability to complete required training and competency assessments.
