Job summary

Angelic Care is seeking a reliable Disability Support Worker to provide personalised assistance to an NIISQ participant living in Edmonton. The role focuses on helping the client reconnect with the community, attend appointments, and build independence while navigating mobility and daily activities.

We require a male worker with NDIS screening clearance, Blue Card, First Aid/CPR, and a valid licence. Casual weekday shifts in Edmonton, QLD are offered with a four-hour shift structure.

Qualifications

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance is required.
  • Current Blue Card (QLD) is preferred.
  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability or related qualification is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support the participant to access the community safely.

Description

Angelic Care is seeking a reliable, patient and experienced Disability Support Worker to provide individualised support to an adult NIISQ participant living in Edmonton.

The participant is a 61-year-old man living with an acquired brain injury and mobility impairment following a workplace accident. He uses a manual wheelchair for community access but currently manages his personal care independently.

The participant would like support to reconnect with his community, attend appointments and activities, and build greater independence and confidence outside the home.

Applicants should ideally have some flexibility between Monday and Friday for four hour shift type.

About the role

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting the participant to access the community safely
  • Assisting with manual wheelchair mobility during outings
  • Supporting attendance at appointments, therapy and community activities
  • Planning enjoyable, meaningful and goal-focused activities
  • Encouraging independence, choice and confidence
  • Providing companionship and social support
  • Communicating effectively with the participant, his family and the wider care team
  • Completing accurate progress notes and required documentation
  • Following all care plans, risk assessments and organisational procedures
About you

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, dependable and emotionally steady
  • Respectful of participant choice, dignity and independence
  • Confident supporting someone with an acquired brain injury and mobility limitations
  • Comfortable assisting a manual wheelchair user in the community
  • A clear and effective communicator
  • Able to build trust and provide consistent support
  • Interested in community participation and supporting meaningful goals

Experience supporting people with acquired brain injuries, neurological injuries or physical disabilities will be highly regarded.

The participant has expressed a preference for a male support worker. Compatibility, communication style and the participant’s right to choice will be considered as part of the matching process. All suitably qualified applicants are welcome to apply.
