Job summary

Staffing Options in New Farm, Brisbane, is seeking a Development Worker to support people with disabilities into valued community roles. You will build trusting relationships, mentor staff, and promote a person-centred, inclusive service approach within a collaborative team.

The role offers flexible hours (30–38 per week) with options for full-time or part-time employment, located in a vibrant office near public transport. A focus on ethical practice and teamwork guides daily work.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in disability or aged care.
• Tertiary qualifications preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Australian statutory and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to support people to engage in community roles.

Responsibilities

• Explore, design and develop individualised supports.
• Engage support workers and team leaders with suitable skills.
• Induct and provide ongoing training for the person’s support workers.
• Provide supervision and mentoring to achieve goals and outcomes.
• Create a culture where the person is central and home is prioritized.
• Keep the support focused on the person at all times.
• Communicate goals, clarify procedures and reinforce processes.
• Assist the person to own vision, goals and procedures.
• Equip staff with skills to communicate respectfully.
• Tailor training to the person’s needs.
• Map networks and link formal and informal supports.
• Help the person establish networks and community involvement.
