Job summary

Western Sydney University is seeking a part-time Disability Support Specialist to provide specialist advice and inclusive support that improves access, participation and success for students with disability.

You will collaborate with students and staff to develop, monitor and refine academic reasonable adjustment plans, advocate for accessible facilities, and use service data to identify gaps and drive improvements across campus.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Allied Health, Education, Social Work or a related field.
• Extensive experience supporting and advising a diverse range of clients with disability.
• Knowledge of disability discrimination, education standards, anti-discrimination and privacy legislation.
• Strong advocacy, negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience presenting to varied audiences.

Job description

• Part-time,.8FTE 12 month contract at HEW 8 level
• Campbelltown campus with flexible working arrangements
• Salary: $120,754 – $134,051 plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

The Opportunity

Provide specialist advice and inclusive support that improves access, participation and success for students with disability.

You will deliver tailored, proactive and responsive support to students with disability, chronic health conditions and/or mental health conditions helping to improve their access, participation, retention and success at the University.

You will collaborate with students and staff to develop, monitor and refine academic reasonable adjustment plans. You will provide specialist advice, advocacy and guidance on accessible facilities, services and learning environments while supporting students with sensitive or complex educational matters.

You will use service data, performance measures and student feedback to identify gaps and recommend targeted improvements. You will also build effective referral pathways, maintain accurate records and co-develop educational programs that strengthen accessibility and inclusion across the University community.
