Central Gippsland Health (CGH) invites applications for the Executive Director Quality & Learning. This full-time, fixed-term role (Oct 2026–Feb 2027) leads clinical governance, quality, safety and learning services across the organisation, driving compliance and continuous improvement for staff and patients.

Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. We arelocated in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne. The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps.

Employment Type: Full Time, Executive Position (Fixed Term to February 2027 - Leave Relief)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

About the Opportunity

Central Gippsland Health is seeking an experienced and values-driven Director Quality & Learning to join our Executive Team and provide essential leave relief to the Quality, Safety and Learning portfolio.

As a key strategic leader, you will provide leadership and management over clinical governance, quality, safety and risk, and learning services. This division also have overarching responsibility and oversight of organisational compliance with standards and regulations. Working closely with the Executive and management team, the Director will provide the systems, assurance, insight and capability needed to deliver safe, high-quality services and continuously improve the experience and outcomes of the staff and patients we support.

This is a Full time, Fixed term opportunity commencing October 2026 through to February 2027.

About the Role

The Director Quality & Learning oversees a number of Unit/Team Managers responsible for their key portfolio areas.

  • Quality and Clinical Governance— providing strategic oversight of quality systems, clinical governance, accreditation, compliance, risk, incident management, audit, consumer experience and continuous improvement.
  • Safety and OHS — leading the organisation's safety and occupational health and safety framework, ensuring a proactive approach to workplace safety, risk prevention, and partnering with People & Culture on injury management and wellbeing.
  • Learning Services— overseeing organisational learning, professional development, mandatory training, capability development and learning systems to ensure our people have the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver safe and effective services.

The role provides high level escalation across the portfolio, chairs and contributes to internal and external committees, provides regular briefs and papers to Executive, Board and Board sub-committees, and ultimately operates at a strategic level across a multi-disciplinary team to bring plans and frameworks together.

Job Requirement Criteria
  • Tertiary qualification/s and significant leadership experience in quality, clinical governance, safety, learning or an equivalent field.
  • Achievement against CGH Capabilties (outlined in Position Description - under Leadership, Management and Technical Capabilities).
Highly Desirable
  • Experience within the healthcare, public sector or not-for-profit environment.
