Job summary

Central Gippsland Health in Sale, Victoria, is seeking a People & Culture Manager to lead the P&C team and drive organisation-wide initiatives. You will report to the Director People & Culture and partner with business leaders to deliver strategic human resources programs.

The role requires senior HR experience, strong governance, and the ability to implement gender equality and leadership development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Senior HR leadership experience in a complex organisation.

  • Ability to develop and implement people initiatives aligned to values.
  • Experience supporting leaders through workshops and leadership development.
  • Understanding of public sector or health industry is advantageous.

  • Collaborate on divisional plans, engagement strategies and staff initiatives.

Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire.

CGH is located in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne. The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps.

CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).

Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.

CGH also provides aged care and community services in the Wellington Shire and beyond.

We operate four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield delivering high-quality, person-centred care in supportive and homelike environments.

CGH provides a wide range of community-based services that support people to remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and other in-home services tailored to individual needs.

Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.

CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

About the Role

The People & Culture Manager is a new position in our team structure and a key part of our P&C transformation plan. The role reports to the Director People & Culture and oversees the operations of the P&C team including Business Partners and administrative support. This role is a peer to the Payroll Manager, and the ICT Team Leader, who also make up this newly established division with their own teams.

The successful incumbent will be an experienced HR professional with expertise in HR and IR processes, and an emerging or proven team leader, with experience developing and implementing people initiatives org-wide, that build capability and alignment to values. You'll have experience preparing content and delivering workshops for leaders, and experience supporting others in their leadership skills. When all is said and done, you'll be an asset in the delivery of the People & Culture Plan, Strategic Plan, and GEAP, and genuinely care about the experiences our people have at work.

Core responsibilities
  • Lead the P&C team with day-to-day needs
  • Oversee end-to-end functions such as performance, ER, bargaining/industrial activity, org development, recruitment and retention
  • Collaborate on divisional plans, engagement strategies and staff initiatives
  • Deliver against the items of the Gender Equality Action Plan
  • Support in the delivery of leadership training
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Broad experience at a senior HR level
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of management issues in complex organisations
  • Ability to demonstrate the technical capabilities associated with the role (found in the PD)
  • Ability to demonstrate the CGH Leadership and Management Capabilities at a senior level (found in the PD)
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Experience in the public sector or health industry
