Job summary

Queensland Health is seeking a Director, Medicines Regulation and Compliance to provide strategic leadership across multiple teams and to drive the delivery of medicines regulatory functions. You will guide the implementation of the compliance framework under the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 and offer authoritative regulatory advice to senior executives and stakeholders.

You will shape policy, influence reform, and contribute to national medicines initiatives while overseeing workforce

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of medicines regulation and related legislation such as the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019.
• Proven ability to develop policies and standards to achieve better health outcomes.
• Experience delivering executive-level regulatory services and advising on compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication with staff at all levels and external stakeholders.
• Experience in budget oversight and strategic workforce planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to the Medicines Approvals and Regulation Team, Medicines Compliance Team, and Monitored Medicines Policy and RTPM Team.
• Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the compliance framework under the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019.
• Advise on regulatory compliance, licensing, approvals, and medication safety.
• Shape policy, influence regulatory reform, and contribute to national medicines initiatives.
• Oversee workforce planning, resource management, governance and risk mitigation for approx. 25 staff.
