Job summary

The Y Canberra Region is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Educator to support high-quality learning environments for children. You will plan, implement and assess programs aligned with EYLF, NQF and NQS, supervise children, build relationships with families, and document learning outcomes.

In the Lead Educator’s absence, provide leadership to the room team to maintain continuity of care. Role requires an ACECQA-approved Diploma in ECEC, current First Aid/CPR, and ongoing safeguarding

Qualifications

  • ACECQA-approved Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • Food safety certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Current First Aid & CPR, or willingness to obtain.
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Internal training modules completed prior to commencement.
  • Geccko child safety training foundations 1 & 2, or willingness to obtain.
  • Geccko advanced child safety training 3 & 4, or willingness to obtain.
  • ACT Keeping Children and Young People Safe training or willingness to obtain.
  • WWVP card or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care.
  • Create safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments for children to thrive.
  • Collaborate with Lead Educator and Educational Leader to plan, implement and evaluate programs aligned with EYLF, NQF and NQS.
  • Supervise children, foster relationships with families and colleagues, document learning and development.
  • Promote health, safety and wellbeing and maintain a welcoming environment reflecting The Y Canberra Region.
  • In Lead Educator's absence, provide leadership to room team to ensure continuity of high-quality education and care.

About the role

This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care by creating safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments where every child can thrive.

Working collaboratively with the Lead Educator and Educational Leader, you will help plan, implement and evaluate educational programs aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Framework (NQF) and National Quality Standard (NQS). You will actively supervise children, foster strong relationships with families and colleagues, contribute to children's learning and development through meaningful documentation, promote health, safety and wellbeing, and maintain a welcoming environment that reflects the values and philosophy of The Y Canberra Region.

In the absence of the Lead Educator, you will confidently provide leadership to the room team to ensure continuity of high-quality education and care.

Qualifications & Experience
  • ACECQA-approved Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • Do Food Safely certificate, or willingness to obtain.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Y Mandatory Internal Training - completion of all required organisational online learning modules prior to commencement
  • Geccko - Foundations of Child Safety Training Courses 1 & 2, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Geccko - Advanced Child Safety Training Courses 3 & 4, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • ACT Government - Keeping Children and Young People Safe training or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Current Paid ACT Working With Vulnerable People card (WWVP) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
