Job summary

The Y Canberra Region is seeking an OSHC Coordinator to lead the day-to-day service operations, mentor educators, and ensure high-quality, child-centred programs aligned with MTOP, NQF and NQS. You will work closely with the Area Manager to deliver compliant, inclusive services.

This role requires at least 2 years of OSHC experience, active progress toward ACECQA qualifications, and strong regulatory knowledge. The Y offers paid onboarding, ongoing training, and health and wellbeing benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in OSHC/OOSH or School Age Care service.
  • Actively working towards ACECQA-approved qualification per regulations.
  • Knowledge of Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.
  • Understanding MTOP, NQF and EYLF frameworks.
  • Current First Aid in Education and Care setting or willingness to obtain.
  • WWVP registration and willingness to travel between locations.

Job description

As the OSHC Coordinator , you will undertake the responsibilities of the Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader , leading the day-to-day operations of the service while working closely with the Area Manager to deliver high-quality, child-centred programs. You will mentor and support a team of educators to plan, implement and evaluate engaging learning experiences in line with the My Time, Our Place (MTOP) Framework , the National Quality Framework (NQF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS) , ensuring every child is supported to participate, learn and thrive.

You will foster strong partnerships with children, families and the local community while maintaining a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment. The role includes overseeing service operations, staffing, compliance, health and safety, educator development and documentation, ensuring the service consistently meets legislative and regulatory requirements. You will champion a culture of continuous improvement, reflective practice and collaboration, promoting the Y Canberra Region's values and commitment to providing exceptional outcomes for children and families.

  • A strong commitment to child safeguarding and maintaining child-safe practices in line with legislative requirements.
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in an Outside School Hours Care (OSHC/OOSH) or School Age Care service. (Mandatory)
  • Be actively working towards an ACECQA-approved qualification in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Regulations, including:
  • Completion of at least 2 years of an ACECQA-approved Early Childhood Education and Care or School Age Education and Care qualification, or
  • Another qualification recognised by ACECQA as meeting the requirements for the role. (Mandatory)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations. (Mandatory)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the My Time, Our Place (MTOP) Framework, National Quality Framework (NQF), and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). (Mandatory)
  • Current HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Current Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Foundations of Child Safety Training, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • ACT Government Keeping Children and Young People Safe training, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel between multiple service locations.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs is highly desirable.
