Job summary

KU Wickham is a heritage-listed preschool located just minutes from Newcastle CBD. Established over 70 years ago as Newcastle’s first free Kindergarten, it continues to operate from its historic 1889 Italianate building, thoughtfully renovated to blend its original charm with modern learning spaces.

Set among parklands, sporting facilities and a community garden, the service is open 50 weeks of the year and offers places for 3-5-year-olds.

Qualifications

• Australian working rights.
• NSW Working with Children Check (current and valid).
• ACECQA recognised Diploma qualification.
• National Child Safety Training Certificate.
• Training in Child Protection (CHCPRT025) and understanding of its implications for the care and protection of children.
• First Aid and CPR Certificates.
• Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificates.
• Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF).
• Understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).

Responsibilities

• Cover role for parental leave, 8 hours per day on Thursdays and Fridays, rotating shifts? 8:00am-4:00pm and 9:00am-5:00pm.
• Value strong relationships with children and families; contribute to a passionate, capable team.
