Join our growing Digital Product team

We’re continuing to invest in our digital products and platforms across Australia and New Zealand, and are growing our Digital Product team to support the next stage of our digital strategy.

It’s an exciting time to join the team as we continue to evolve our digital experiences for teachers, students and schools.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Digital Product, the Digital Systems Manager will help shape and improve the systems that underpin our digital products and content. The role combines customer and commercial insight with technical acumen and systems thinking to ensure these systems are reliable, secure, integrated and continually improving.

The role will also explore technology, AI and new ways of working to create measurable value for customers and the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Systems strategy and ownership: Define the vision and strategy for the digital systems that support and connect with the core digital platform. Ensure the systems ecosystem enables customer, product and business objectives.
  • Customer and business discovery: Engage customers and stakeholders (both internal and external) to understand needs, behaviours and pain points. Use research, market insight, competitor awareness and data to identify opportunities and guide decisions.
  • Roadmap and prioritisation: Develop and maintain a multi-year systems roadmap. Prioritise initiatives by balancing customer value, strategic alignment, commercial impact, technical feasibility and risk.
  • Systems thinking and integration: Understand how systems, processes, data and customer journeys connect. Identify dependencies and ensure integrations create coherent, scalable experiences rather than isolated solutions.
  • Solution development and lifecycle ownership: Lead solutions from discovery and requirements through implementation, adoption, optimisation and retirement. Ensure solutions remain fit for purpose as customer and business needs evolve.
  • Innovation and experimentation: Challenge existing approaches, test assumptions and explore AI, automation and emerging technologies. Apply learning to improve customer experiences and ways of working.
  • Performance and continuous improvement: Use customer feedback, adoption, usage and systems data to evaluate performance, identify improvement opportunities and demonstrate value.
  • Commercial and supplier management: Work with technology partners to deliver roadmap priorities. Evaluate options based on capability, cost, strategic fit and the value created for customers and the business.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Partner with Product, Technology and business teams to define outcomes, resolve dependencies and deliver change. Communicate technical concepts and value clearly to different audiences.
  • Governance and responsible technology: Ensure decisions appropriately consider security, privacy, accessibility, data governance and responsible AI use without making operational support the role’s primary focus.
  • Integrations and data management: Oversee system integrations, APIs, data flows, identity and access arrangements and technical dependencies. Ensure information is exchanged accurately, securely and efficiently.
About You
  • Proven experience managing business-critical digital platforms or systems throughout their lifecycle.
  • Strong technical acumen across system architecture, integrations, APIs, data flows, identity and access management, security and release management.
  • Strong systems-thinking capability, including the ability to understand dependencies, anticipate downstream impacts and balance competing requirements.
  • Ability to translate customer and business needs into clear system requirements, priorities and delivery plans.
  • Customer-centred approach, with experience using research, feedback and behavioural or usage data to inform decisions.
  • Experience challenging established approaches, testing assumptions and applying learning to continuous improvement.
  • Confidence using digital technologies, AI and automation, with an understanding of their opportunities and responsible application.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, options and value clearly to varied audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ownership of outcomes, adaptability and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with Agile methods and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG.
  • Knowledge of the Australia and New Zealand education market and digital learning environments.
  • Relevant qualification or certification in systems administration, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, service management or project management.
  • Highly flexible working environment
  • Two work-from-home days per week and rostered Friday afternoons off (fortnightly)
  • Access to contemporary offices and facilities close to Southern Cross Station
  • Varied learning and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to support Skyline Education Foundation through our Workplace Giving Program
  • Comprehensive wellbeing program, including an EAP available to you and your family
  • Other enterprise level benefits including Long Service Leave at 5 years, 2 days of paid Volunteering Leave and Study Leave per year and more
