Job summary

Talent Corp is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to lead IT projects in a large federal government context. Based in Melbourne CBD or Geelong with flexible work-from-home options, you will drive SAFe, Agile and hybrid delivery across internal teams and external vendors.

Applicants should have 8-10+ years of IT project management, with deep digital/mobile tech experience and a background in governmental environments. Australian Citizenship and baseline AGSVA clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years IT project management in Prince2, PMBOK, Agile, SAFe and hybrid models.
• Deep expertise in digital and mobile technologies and integrating external systems into core cloud platforms.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications; industry recognised PM qualification (SAFe preferred).
• Experience in Federal or State Government environments highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical solution planning for new capabilities and features requested by the business.
• Work with Architecture, Delivery Teams and external vendors; develop and maintain the project schedule.
• Deliver all technical components of the project solution with internal and external teams.
• Manage delivery partners for system implementation across internal, shared services and vendor teams.
• Collaborate with Product Owner and delivery teams to drive daily sprint delivery.
• Provide guidance and escalation for technical issues.
• Represent the project in ICT Change and Release Management meetings.
• Manage Cyber Security assessments, penetration testing, and go/no-go gates.
• Apply DevOps principles to improve quality and reliability.
• Maintain project plans, risks, issues and dependencies; present weekly status reports.
• Champion continuous improvement.

Opportunity

Long-term hourly rate contract expected to go for a minimum 2 years (12 + 12 m initial approval) with potential to extend beyond. Can be based in Melbourne CBD or Geelong with work from home flexibility. Interstate applications across SA, NSW, ACT and QLD are welcome.

This is a large federal government agency with plans to develop internal IT capability as they move away from a shared services IT model across other departments. The Tech Services Division has a number of transformation programs in progress including the migration of Salesforce LWC to React Native mobile applications.

Role

The Project Manager reports to the Program Director, and is responsible for planning and managing ongoing projects based on Scaled Agile and mobile applications and migrations.

Duties

• Co-ordinate technical solution planning activities for new capabilities and features requested by the business
• Work with Architecture, specialist Delivery Teams within Tech Services, and external vendors;
• Develop the project schedule and maintain the plan
• Deliver all technical components of the project solution, working with internal and external teams
• Manage delivery partner(s) for system implementation - this will include internal teams, IT teams from shared services partner (another large federal agency) teams and commercial vendor teams;
• Work closely with the Product Owner & delivery teams driving day-to-day delivery of the core technology solution sprints
• Provide guidance and point of escalation for resolution for technical issues
• Represent the project in ICT Change and Release Management meetings
• Manage Cyber Security assessments, Penetration testing, go/no-go gates
• Apply DevOps principles to improve quality and reliability
• Project plans, risks, issues and key dependencies
• Present Weekly Status Reports
• Be a champion for continuous improvement

Success Measures

• 8-10+ years IT Project Management within Prince2, PMBOK, Agile, SAFe and hybrid models
• Deep expertise in digital and mobile technologies and integrating external systems into core cloud based business platforms
• Relevant tertiary qualifications; and an industry recognised PM qualification (SAFe preferred).
• React Native and/or Salesforce LWC - HIGHLY regarded
• Project Management in Federal or State Government environments - HIGHLY regarded
