Job summary

Commonwealth Government Agency in Canberra seeks an experienced Project Manager to plan and lead the delivery of complex ICT projects with organisation-wide impact. You will own projects end to end from design through evaluation, while managing budgets, risks and stakeholder expectations.

You will also lead and develop staff and advise senior stakeholders and executives. This is a 12 month contract starting January 2027, with extension options up to 24 months.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering complex ICT projects, ideally within government or large enterprise.
• Proven experience managing a project budget, including monitoring expenditure and reporting against it.
• Strong written communication skills, with a track record of producing Project Management Plans, status reports and schedules.
• Experience engaging and managing internal and external stakeholders, from frontline staff through to executive level.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• A current NV1 security clearance or higher is essential and must be held at the time of application.

About the role

As Project Manager, you will plan and lead the delivery of complex ICT projects, some with organisation-wide impact, working under the broad direction of senior staff. You will own projects end to end, from design and planning through to implementation and evaluation, while managing budgets, risks and stakeholder expectations. Alongside delivery, you will lead and develop staff and provide expert advice to stakeholders and the agency's executive. This is a 12 month contract starting in January 2027, with extension options of up to 24 months.

• A current Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance or higher is essential and must be held at the time of application.
• You must be based in Canberra, as regular onsite attendance is required.
