Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd is seeking a skilled Digger Fitter to join our Field Service team supporting mining operations in Rolleston. You will maintain and repair a fleet of large CAT excavators on a 7 days on / 7 days off roster, with strong earning potential and company benefits.

You will perform maintenance and repairs on Caterpillar equipment, diagnose faults, ensure CAT standards, and document service activities while building customer relationships on the road.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in mobile plant technology.
• CAT machinery experience.
• Strong fault diagnosis skills in mechanical/electrical/hydraulic.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs and component replacements on Caterpillar equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Ensure repairs are completed efficiently and to Caterpillar standards.
• Assess components for reusability and provide repair or replacement recommendations.
• Complete service reports, timecards and customer documentation accurately.
• Build strong customer relationships through professional service and technical support.
• Promote genuine CAT parts and identify opportunities to support customer operations.

'We're seeking skilled Digger Fitters to join our Field Service team supporting mining operations in Rolleston. Working a lifestyle-friendly 7 days on / 7 days off roster, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of large mining excavators while enjoying excellent earning potential and company-provided benefits.

In this role, you will:

About You

A successful teammate will have:

• Trade qualifications – Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.
• Caterpillar product knowledge – experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling.
• Strong troubleshooting skills – ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
• Customer-focused mindset – confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
• Safety-first approach – committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
• Valid driver’s licence – required to travel between customer sites across the Rockhampton region.
