Job summary

Webster Trucks Burnie, part of Eagers Automotive, is seeking a qualified Diesel Technician to service and repair heavy vehicles in our Burnie workshop. You will diagnose, maintain and repair trucks, ensuring safety and reliability across our fleet.

You will work in a modern workshop with ongoing training, competitive remuneration, and opportunities for career progression within a leading automotive group in Tasmania.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working on trucks, heavy vehicles, or diesel-powered equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A current Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Heavy vehicle licence highly regarded but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on trucks and commercial vehicles.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Conducting inspections and identifying additional repair requirements.
  • Completing warranty and customer-pay repairs to manufacturer standards.
  • Accurately completing repair orders and workshop documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with Service Advisors and fellow technicians.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment.
  • Ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.

About the Role

As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of heavy vehicle and commercial transport products.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on trucks and commercial vehicles
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Conducting inspections and identifying additional repair requirements
  • Completing warranty and customer-pay repairs to manufacturer standards
