Job summary

E L Workforce in Melbourne is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team in Truganina. You will service prime movers and refrigerated trailers, keeping them safe and roadworthy.

The role focuses on preventative maintenance, fault finding and mechanical repairs to minimise downtime and keep the fleet operational. You will work with the Fleet Manager and drivers to uphold safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic.
• Experience servicing heavy commercial vehicles.
• Strong preventative maintenance and fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge of braking, suspension, driveline systems.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles and trailers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and defects.
• Complete repairs to engines, driveline, brakes, suspension and steering systems.
• Inspect vehicles and trailers to identify potential issues early.
• Investigate mechanical issues reported by drivers and operations staff.
• Maintain refrigerated trailers and identify defects.
• Ensure vehicles and trailers remain safe, roadworthy and compliant.
• Complete maintenance records and service documentation accurately.
• Follow WHS/OHS and workshop safety procedures.
• Communicate with Fleet Manager, Operations team and drivers.

• Good knowledge of heavy vehicle braking, suspension, steering and driveline systems.
• A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail and a practical, hands‑on approach.
• A current Australian driver's licence.
