Job summary

BCI Sales Pty Ltd in Western Australia is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to service a fleet of buses and heavy vehicles. You will perform diagnostic tests, identify faults, and repair or replace engine, steering, transmission, braking, and lighting components.

You will also maintain detailed service records and interact with customers daily. The role requires a degree or diploma in mechanical/automotive engineering, valid driver’s license, and strong diagnostic skills.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering.
ASE Diesel Certification advantageous.
Valid driver’s license.
Aptitude for mathematics and science.
Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
Good IT and diagnostic skills.
Physically fit and able to lift up to 150 pounds.
Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
Attention to detail.
Good interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Good organization skills.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to identify faults.
Repair or replace engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.
Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles and interact with customers.
General servicing and maintenance of vehicles including checking lighting systems and performing preventative maintenance.
Safety inspections using a checklist.
Breakdown and mechanical repairs with estimated repair times.
Running diagnostic tests and analyzing results.
Repairing and replacing dysfunctional parts including engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
Road test driving to gauge performance.
Wheel alignments and wheel balancing.
Maintaining records of serviced vehicles and parts inventory.
Maintaining equipment and tools and a clean workspace.
