Job summary

Hastings Deering in Townsville is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter to join our workshop team. You will deliver diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance on Caterpillar and allied equipment for the General Construction sector across North Queensland.

The role is permanent with a Monday to Friday roster. Candidates should hold a recognised Diesel Fitter trade qualification, bring hands-on field experience, and demonstrate strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. HR licence desirable.

• Trade qualification as Diesel Fitter or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with construction/earthmoving equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver reliable workshop repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on construction equipment.
• Troubleshoot faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise lifespan.
• Complete service reports, repair records, warranty documentation and safety paperwork.
