Job summary

Stawell Gold Mines in regional Victoria is seeking qualified Diesel Fitters to join our Mobile Maintenance team on a residential 7/7 roster, including some night shifts. You’ll maintain and repair underground diesel equipment to high standards and report to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Mobile Plant Technology and have solid experience with mobile diesel equipment, with underground exposure

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle or Mobile Plant technology.
• Solid experience on mobile diesel equipment (underground experience preferred).
• Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on light and heavy diesel equipment, including underground assets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Maintain workshop tools and equipment to high standards.
• Complete maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental standards.
• Support apprentices and contribute to a strong team culture.

Stawell Gold Mines currently have openings for qualified Diesel Fitters to join our Mobile Maintenance team.

Stawell Gold Mines (SGM) is a well-established underground mining operation located in the historic goldfields of Stawell, 236 km north-west of Melbourne.
Our mine has a proud legacy in gold exploration and production, and today we continue to build on that heritage with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

About the Role

We currently have openings for Qualified Heavy Diesel Fittersto join our maintenance team. Residential Role working 7/7 Roster including some night shift.
Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing SGM’s fleet of underground mobile diesel equipment to the highest standard.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Performing routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on light and heavy diesel equipment (including underground).
• Troubleshooting and resolving breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Maintaining workshop tools and equipment to a high standard.
• Completing maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
• Upholding SGM’s commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
• Supporting apprentices and contributing to a strong team culture.

What you’ll bring

• Trade qualification in Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR31120) or Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology (AUR31220) or equivalent. (heavy vehicle preferred but not essential).
• Solid experience working on mobile diesel equipment (underground experience highly regarded).
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
• Good computer literacy and attention to detail with maintenance records.
• Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
• Hydraulic & electrical experience .
• Availability to work a continuous shift roster (Days/Nights) where required.
