Job summary

Top Office in Ipswich, QLD, is seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter to join their long‑standing, family‑owned workshop. You’ll maintain and repair a fleet of heavy earthmoving equipment, ensuring reliability and safety for site operations.

This hands‑on role requires fault diagnosis, repairs, and preventative maintenance on machines such as dozers, graders, excavators and Moxy trucks, with access to lathes and milling machines for onsite repairs.

Qualifications

• Trade Qualified (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Solid experience maintaining and repairing heavy diesel equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and mechanical systems.
• Experience with CAT mobile plant is desirable.
• Experience operating machining equipment such as lathes and milling machines.
• Own set of tools and a HR Truck Licence is desirable.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on heavy diesel equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and safety.
• Maintain and repair a fleet of heavy earthmoving machinery in the Ipswich workshop.

Are you an experienced Diesel Fitter looking for a long-term opportunity with a well-established, family-owned business?

Our client has been delivering bulk earthworks and industrial site development projects across South East Queensland for more than 50 years. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a skilled Diesel Fitter to join their Ipswich-based workshop team.

Working within a close-knit team, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy earthmoving equipment, ensuring machinery remains safe, reliable, and ready for site.

About the Role

This is a hands-on mechanical role where you’ll diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and perform preventative maintenance on a range of heavy mobile plant, including:

• Dozers
• Graders
• Excavators
• Moxy Trucks

You’ll also utilise machining equipment, including lathes and milling machines, to complete repairs when required.

What You’ll Bring

To be successful, you will have:

• Trade Qualified (Certificate III or equivalent)
• Solid experience maintaining and repairing heavy diesel equipment
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and mechanical systems
• Experience working on CAT mobile plant, including D6, D7, D8, 730, 740, 615 and 623 models (desirable)
• Experience operating machining equipment such as lathes and milling machines
• Your own tools
• HR Truck Licence (desirable)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
