Rates: $80 - $110 per hour (inc. super)

Within the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), the Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD) The CIOD is one of two divisions within the AEC’s Enterprise Transformation Group (ETG) and is responsible for delivering robust ICT functions and capabilities, maintaining election-ready systems, and delivering an ambitious ICT transformation and modernisation agenda. The CIOD leads and supports a range of AEC projects/programs including, but not limited to, the Modern Workplace Program, Cloud Technology Project, Polling Place Technology Project, and the Election Systems Modernisation Program (Indigo Program). Indigo Program (Tranche 2) The Indigo Program is a large-scale transformation program to modernise business capabilities and replace core election ICT systems with a citizen-centric, agile technology platform. The Program will transform the AEC’s delivery of electoral services and ensure ongoing integrity of the electoral system. Tranche 2 comprises a variety of work packages with a focus on business process re-engineering, data management, legislative compliance and replacing aging systems.

The AEC is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to work on various Projects within the AEC. The DevOps Engineer will be tasked with supporting the agency to architect and document the long-term development and deployment goals to support federal events such as elections and major projects across the AEC.

The role is responsible for undertaking very complex and/or sensitive work, under broad direction, utilising expertise across a range of activities relating to the design of software applications.

Key duties and responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Work effectively with the technical teams such as the development teams and DevOps teams.
• Establish and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines, repositories, and artefacts.
• Ensuring that cloud platforms are current in their toolsets, resilient, secure and automated wherever possible.
• In collaboration with other teams in the work area, investigate and resolve complex issues with the operation of an application.
• Ensure deadlines are consistently met and that a high standard of technical and design documentation is provided.
• Assisting with cloud first deployment pipeline development.
• Creating and overseeing processes that manage the delivery pipeline from development through to production.
• Working with project and operational teams to orchestrate delivery pipelines across design, build, test, deploy and run.
• Implementing continuous improvements, strategy, and best practice development in the CI/CD environment.
• Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as required
• Exposure to DevSecOps using Azure DevOps; Experience in working with major Cloud Platforms (e.g. Azure / AWS / Google Cloud); Hands on experience with deploying and maintaining Azure resources including Azure App Service and similar.
• Relevant technology certifications across the cloud Infrastructure landscape.
• Proven experience in working in a hybrid environment, and design moves from on-premise to cloud platforms; Extensive experience building and maintaining complex Azure DevOps pipelines. Proficient in developing pipelines that deploy Infrastructure as a code (IAC);
• Ability to understand and disseminate industry terminology and concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience developing .Net Core and .Net framework Applications;
• Good knowledge of implementing the IAC with CICD (Azure DevOps / Github); Experience with GIT version control and common branching strategies.
• Experience with Visio to create technical documentation
• Ability to communicate and consult with a wide variety of stakeholders
